Hey everyone my name is Tristan Smith and I am new to this forum. I have a customer who has Avaya 4610sw ip phones that they would like to setup on our broadsoft platform. Is is possible to use this phone without an Avaya Ip manager or media gateway? Also, I have tried to hit * on bootup to configure the phones, but when it boots up, it gets dhcp and then it tries to the user the "router ip" as the tftp server and the configuration server tries to connect via http. How do I get this phone to hit my tftp server and how do I assign a sip user name and password? Any help would be extremely appreciated.

Unless the Broadsoft does Avaya's H323 I suspect you will need to use an IP Office. Broadsoft is a SIP platform. An IP Office purely IP based isnt very expensive. you could get away with a second user 406 on rel 5 with a VCM card in it and some SIP licenses.

Correct me if im wrong, but I thought this was a sip based phone depending on the firmware?

4610 uses SIP only with the quick edition firmware and that one is crap. All other ones use h.323 protocol.

The phone is currently running a10d01b2_9_1_1.bin. I cannot get it to point towards my tftp server. It keeps trying to connect to the the default gateway as the tftp address. Any suggestions?

I REALLY think that you're fighting a losing battle. These phones were never intended to be used on anything other than an Avaya platform. Buy appropriate phones for your application and be happy.

mforrence, I completely agree with you, however we have a customer that has these phones and wants to use them on broadsoft, so I am trying to make it work... If its not possible, its not possible.

I have a toaster and three table lamps - and I'd like to integrate them to your SIP platform. And if you can't make it work, you must be incompetent. Sometimes you just have to walk away...

have you tried to change the sig on them? there is a command hold SIG# and you can change the signaling on the phone. maybe what you need.

Yea I made sure SIG is setup as SIP.. The biggest obstacle im having is that it keeps trying to use the gateway ip address as the tftp address. If I could get it to pull files, maybe I can finagle something.. Otherwise Ill walk away lol.

tbone587,

you need to set the tftp address in the dhcp string (option 176)

I doubt you can get them working anyhow, but that's where you need to start.
