Howdy,
On a S8300 with digital 24 port cards (no IP) I have a customer that needs more buttons on a console (has a 6424+expansion now) I am Looking at the 302D looks like it would work and give them more DSS spaces but we have never employed that type of set. Question is I dont see what type you would program a 302 as? I dont see that as a choice in the switch. Also what is the learning curve for someone using that set? the busy lamps look like you still have to dial half the digits with the 20/100 group keys(all but 2) for an extension and we have 5 digit dialing... our receptionists are "challenged" (and I am being kind) Any help appriciated. thank you

voicebum,

You add attendant 1. Attendant console will need an extension number, TN, COR, COS, etc.. Console type should be principal. You will also have to have set up night service when console is unmanned. Also change console parameters controls settings such as Time Reminder on Hold, Time in Queue, Return Call timeout and Common Shared Extensions if you are parking calls for retrieval. Console requires power supply for display.

you probably do not want to do this.

an attendant console can only be used for a BLF (Busy Lamp Field), and 1 touch dialing phones. It cannot be used for bridged appearance, or programed to do anything other than be used as a large "busy-ind" for each phone (meaning you can see the status if they are one the phone, or one touch dial/transfer calls to them).

If you need more buttons on your switch, I suggest you get a 9630/40 IP phone, you can have up to (3) SBM's (Side Button modules), each with up to 24 programmable buttons.

If you have an S8300, your switch is IP enabled, and you can add IP phones.

FYI, you add the 302 with the command "add attendant 1"
and tell it what type of console you have.

Thanks fellas, that is exactly what I was wondering was the functionality of the phone / console. We never used Attendants so now all of that info I used to ignore makes sense. Hmm another reason to go IP too... thanks again
