Hi

Avaya 1140 phones are heating up in one of our sites..Is it because of power delivered from switch port.Should something be done in the switch to optimize power delivered to the phone.

Gigabit or 100MB? The phones do run warmer on a gigabit switch than 100MB. The phone will draw whatever power it needs, assuming the switch has the power budget to supply it. An 1140 draws about 6-7 watts when on a gig switch, active call with backlight on.
