This is a multi-part question:

1. I am being asked to get trained in Lotus notes, I remember several languages; Lotus script is one of them. Which one is the prevailing choice.

2. Where can I get a good set of Video Training CD or VCR?

3. Any suggestions?

4. I have been programming for a while (a long while) work on AS400, Access, Cobol, Excel, RPG, etc. I do not need "programming training", just language training.

Suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks
JesseH

1) languages :
Notes comprises Formula language, Lotus Script, and Java Script. You can throw in HTML as an accessory.
The prevailing choice depends on what you do.
Formula language is to be used to do in-document controls and set field values before, during or after editing.
Any other manipulation is probably best done in Lotus Script, notably for scheduled agents and the like.
Javascript will obviously be used if you make your application to be used via a browser, but formula language can be used there too.

2) No idea

3) Forget anything you have ever learned on relational databases. Notes is NOT relational, it is a document-based storage system. You can simulate relational behavior, but that is as far as it gets.

4) Go to the usual places :
Notes Net (official IBM site),
Notes Design,
Domino Pro,
Techtarget,

and I'm sure my fellow forum members can point you to some more.

Good luck,

Pascal.
