Doea anyone know of a AV package that is easy to upadate manually. I have come across a lot of pc's lately whose
internet connection has been cripled by a virus but the AV software could not be updated.

Most AV companies seem to have AV software that can be updated manually but is usually in an obscure way. Most of the AV companies just have a footnote as instructions on their sites for manual updating. ( BY manual updating I mean the ability to update a AV package with a CD-rom which contains updated definitions)

So suggestions on any AV packages that have an easy-to-use manual update process?

Yep....use AVG antivirus. You can download the virus defs via their website and then just copy them into the update directory and AVG will update itself without even having to have an active Internet connection. I use this all the time.

Hope this helps,

AVG, Avast!, and Symantec (not Norton) are all anitvirus softwares that I know of which have some manual and automatic ways to update.

is manual update available for AVG Free ?

Add Sophos to the mix, too.

Avast and ClamWin are freeware that you can manually update as well.
