Hello all, whats the best way to install one AUX ringer? I am trying to save the most $$$ I can. Customer has a small lot he needs to hear the phones ring when he is outside. I have looked into running a horn off a headset port of one of his 7316 phones to a outside location, I just am not sure what power supply devices I would need to do this or if there is a better way. One horn is all they will need. Thanks for your help.

Just use the aux ringer port on the system. Depending on the horn would depend on how much power is needed to make it work.

What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger.

Will a Valcom 1030C work if I connect it to the contact closer on the CICS station block and use a small 24v power supply such as a VP-324?

Thanks,

Yes, but you'll still need to generate the ring.

My old boss was in a pinch once, and wired his toner to a 9vdc power supply, then connected the leads in series from the aux ring port to a 24v horn. As far as I know, it's still working, and the customer seems to like it.

the probably quickest and cheapest may be to set the IATA if you have a CICS and then grab one of the old outside bells and hook it up to the IATA port.

alternately the Vikingelectronics PA-2A will give you PA as well as ringer for around $100.00. the loop closure contacts hook to tha aux ring port and you have ring

Thanks, I looked at the Viking Electronics PA-2A. Thats looks to be the best bang for my buck.

Would the Viking PA-2A ring loud enough for a small car lot? i see where folks use them in small offices but this will be used when the salesmen are on the lot and need to hear there inside phones ringing.

Thanks,

All you need is any self-amplfied horn hooked up to the headset port of the phone.

You get a small horn along with the PA-2A the horn is external as well as internal. I used one for a crane rental company that has a pretty fair lot. for noting the ring it is good, I would want more horns if speech announcements were important.
