autostart

aix/perts,

i just wanted to include my new 3rd party S/W to the autostart...everytime the system reboots...

what will be the correct entry in the inittab? i'm using the /usr/xxx for the 3rd party S/W?

Johnny,

Yes use inittab to start the 3rd party software.

If it was me I do the following:

Add a script into /etc called rc.3rdparty - in this script enter the startup line for the daemons.

Then add the entry into inittab using the once startup method:

lic:2nce:/etc/rc.3rdparty > /dev/null 2>&1

I agree with PSD...just be careful where you put in the inittab. If your program
requires tcp to be done...or nfs, it will not function or start if it is before those entries...my suggestion, make it the last entry
