I need to come up with a way to automatically save a shared workbook every few minutes or so. Autorecover isn't what I need.

It seems the only way for a shared workbook to show changes is to click the save button every so often. I have 5 concurrent users and they need to see each others work as soon as real time as possible.

Does anyone know a way (or a routine) to save the workbook every 1 to 3 minutes?

From QUE’s site

Excel includes the capability to save your workbooks for you, as you are working on them. With the AutoSave add-in, you can save your work automatically or have Excel prompt you to save your work. You determine how often to save and whether the setting is for the active workbook or all open workbooks.

1. With Excel open, choose Tools, AutoSave. If AutoSave doesn't appear on the Tools menu, choose Tools, Add-Ins; select the AutoSave check box in the Add-Ins available list box, and then click OK.

2. In the AutoSave dialog box, ensure that the Automatic Save Every check box is selected and enter the time interval for saving in the Minutes text box.

3. To AutoSave all open workbooks, select the Save All Open Workbooks option. Otherwise, select the Save Active Workbook Only option.

4. If you want to be prompted to save the workbook, ensure that the Prompt Before Saving check box is selected; then click OK.

Thank you for your response.
I may be doing something wrong, but Under my Tools - Addins, there is no Autosave listed. There's Analysis Toolpack, Analysis Toolpak VBA, Conditional Sum Wizard, Euro Currency Tools, Internet Assistant VBA, Lookup Wizard and Solver Addin.

After much surfing a couple of hours online, it appears that even though Micro$oft has Knowledge Base articles that refer to AutoSave as being availabe thru Excel 2003, in fact it was replaced entirely by AutoRecovery in all post-2000 versions! One article I ran across did say that there are third party add-ins out there, so you might try googling gor this.

Good Luck!

I'm sorry you spent so much time on this. But I do appreciate the effort. :) Thank-you.

No problem! I've got more time than anything else these days!
