We have encountered a problem with word97 - if autorecover is on and the machine crashes, the first user in can autorecover another users document !! Does anyone know of a way to completely disable autorecover for all users? (e.g. A registry change?)
I would guess that the File Locations have not been amended for all users; Preferably you would want all files to go to the user's home directory, rather than be carried around in the profile or be sent to a generic temporary location.
In Word, this is set in Tools/Options/File Locations.
You could disable Autorecover for all users, but I'd almost guarantee that if you did, they'd want it back again.
This could only be done by amending the Default user and recreating the profiles for existing users, AFAIK.
CitrixEngineer is right in that the profiles/Word are not properly setup. User specific items should default to the users HOME directory, including the NORMAL.dot file. This would allow each user some freedom and prevent conflicts such as you describe. On the NORMAL.DOT file check Citrix document ID CTX314657 (the artcle is good but there are easier ways to accomplish the same). Using the registry as you suggest is a dirty way and not very practical. -- Devil Dog --
