autoplay running Randomly

Hello all,

Windows XP not pro, Autoplay keeps starting up all by its self. Pops up on the screen every 5 mins or so, can't seem to stop it.. PC freezes on occasion since this has started not necessarily at the same time. Think this is maybe a hardware issue ????

any help would be appreciated

As mentioned it could be spyware/maleware it might be a good idea to run a anti spyware program like spybot. Also you can try changing the autoplay options. Just right click the cdrom drive and select properties. Then edit the autoplay options as needed.
