I'd like to insert a new record in an access table via visual basic 6.
The first column of this table has a autonumber data type
and I don't know how to retreive the next autonumber from access to insert my new record at the right position in my table.

Access does that automatically. It's a blessing and a curse. I avoid using autonumber, but for quick and dirty tables, it fills in nicely.
