AutoNumber Problem

I am trying to use "autonumber" for a key ID field, but instead of just having it sequentially number, I need to have it sequentially number, starting with the number "001". I have put "000" in the format field, but it seems to be starting with the number "23x" for some reason.

Can anyone shed some light?
