I have an pocket pc with a database program in it.
I use the sync procedure to get my access databse over to the pocket pc.
The problem i have is when i enter new entries in the database in my pocket pc the new entir gets an new autonumber (next free), and menwhile i my ordinary access database someone makes an new entry and gets the same autonumber.
Later when i sync my pocket pc with the stationary pc i get errors...
Since it in the databse program of the pocket pc exist an textfield witch can get its entry from the deviceid of the pocket pc + an autonumber (in an textfield), my question is if it is possible to have my access database builded in the same way or similar. (an textfield as the unique field of an table).
Maybe with the id of the stationary pc or login name...+ an autonumber?

Please help me! and explaine as much as you can since i'm an beginner in this field.
Thanks in advance.

Hi

Instead of using autonumber you could use a GUID (Globaly Unique Identifier - i think that stands for), that is what is used in replicated databases to overcome exactly the problem you describe
