Is it possible to have an autonumber field in a make-table query so that when the table is made there is a unique identifier for each record ??

I know I can have an autonumber field in a table - but I can't figure out how to get one via a Maketable query....

thanks for any help

Dan,

This was covered in one of the Ms. Access Forums recently (last 60 days?). Try Search "Autonumber" in all the Ms. Access Forums, I'm sure you'll find it. If not, re-post to this thread and I'll lookit up. To do this, you need a small function to generate the numbers. It is included in the posting. In the search results, check for ones w/ my name also, as I am sure I contributed to the thread.
