I am going to be moving a database to a new remote server. Are my autonumber fields going to be affected?

Many records have been deleted so the autonumbers are no longer sequential in the tables. My concern is that when I insert them into the new server that he autonumbers will be redone and break my relationships.

Is there a setting I should change or procedure I should follow to avoid this?

i think you'll be okay

you can insert into a mysql table with an autonumber, and give any value for the autonumber key that you want

after you're finished loading, it would be a good idea to set the autonumber higher than the last entry loaded

but when in doubt, take a few rows and test it :)

thank,
yes I have the data backed up by CRON daily.

Ok thats good to know about inserting auto numbers. I tested it local and that seemed to be how it behaved but I have to 200MB of data and i dont want to muck it up.

I have been researching syncro techonolgoies. I am curious if any here have used them. I'm perfectly willing to pay$ for them. I downloaded this one as a demo and I'll try it out today.
