We use automounter (with YP) in our Solaris setup. Things are working fine. However, on our Linux box, I am not able to list out any contents inside a automount point without first cd into it.

Is there some kind of option I have to put in for the Linux box to works like the Solaris box??

To automount exported directories from other hosts:

1) Put the following in your auto.master map
/net /etc/auto.net.main -rw,intr,timeo=4,retrans=2

2) Create a file /etc/auto.net.main containing the line
* -fstype=autofs,-Dhost=& file:/etc/auto.net.sub

3) Create a file /etc/auto.net.sub containing the line
* ${host}:/&

HTH, but you'll still need to cd into it, or maybe ls /net/hostname will work
