Hi all,

I'm having some problems with automounter that I cannot
seem to find a solution/fix for in the newsgroups. I cannot
access a particular mount point (via automount/nfs) and
receive the following message in the system log:

Jul 19 09:43:51 nfs_client_svr automount[446]: attempting
to mount entry /net/nfs_server/dfs Jul 19 09:43:51
nfs_client_svr automount[932]: lookup(file): lookup for dfs
failed

My auto.master file and corresponding map for the dfs mount both look fine. Manually mounting the remote directory works. Anyone know what this message means and how I can fix it?

Thanks,
Bryan

Hi Tollboy,
Do you have anykind of security on exported file systems?

Sachin

Nothing that would prevent access from the NFS client. I can NFS mount the filesystem manually.

Hi toolboy,
here is what we use
/etc/auto.master
/auto /etc/autofs/auto.hosts --timeout 60

/etc/autofs/auto.hosts
indigo -fstype=autofs file:/etc/autofs/indigo.auto
pindigo -fstype=autofs file:/etc/autofs/pindigo.auto

this two systems are HP servers

then restart the automounter
/etc/rc.d/init.d/autofs -restart

Can you do rsh to both of the server from client and vice-versa?

Patel
