i have a digital unix 4.0f (compaq ds10) box that i've inherited and it's on a mixed unix platform network with nis being served by a solaris machine.
i am able to manually mount nfs filesystems hosted on remote linux hosts (ext2 + ext3), however, i do not know how to get automount to work for these exports.
for example:
1.) "linuxhost1" is exporting "lindir1".
2.) "hpuxhost1" is exporting "hpuxdir1".
3.) "hpuxhost1" can 'cd /net/linuxhost1/lindir1'.
4.) "digitalunix1" can 'cd /net/hpuxhost1/lindir1'.
5.) "digitalunix1" cannot 'cd /net/linuxhost1/lindir1'.
6.) "digitalunix1" can 'mount linuxhost1:/lindir1 /mnt'
like i said, i've inherited this dinosaur and therefore i need somewhat detailed advice/instructions on configuring automount and/or nfs to get this to work. so using digital unix expert cryptic speak is not likely to help this guy
thanks in advance,
jesse
