AIX 5.2 provides a facility to automatically mount CD-ROM-based and DVD-based file systems in the bos.cdmount file set. This feature is disabled by default, but can be enabled with the startsrc -s cdromd command. The cdromd daemon manages the mounted devices according to information in the /etc/cdromd.conf file. Commands used to mount, unmount, eject, suspend management, and query the status of CD-ROM and DVD devices are also available.
