I am making forms where there are boxes containing numbers followed by line leaders for filling in information. I would like to be able to automate this task so I can get the exact spacing and tabs between each line and lengh. So far I am trying to do it manually. but there must be an easier way. I do use step and repeat but the tabs thing has me a bit confused. I'm using ID CS. Thanks for any advice and help. katt

Rough Example:But want continuous lines, not dotted
Enclosed in a box frame with proper text inset

...would setting up a master page with the maximum number of boxes you require be sufficient. Then using this on the pages you need throughout your document?

all the best!

Thanks for your response. The master pages idea could work I'm sure, but I am still unsure how to get the numbers followed by lines spaced the way I want in the box frames. I experiemented with tabs and still no go. If anyone can help again, please post. katt

...a couple of methods may be to use the _ (underscore key) as the leader symbol in the tabs palette and then decrease the kerning (space between the letters)...

...another way would be to use a 'rule below' option within the paragraph styles. This option will give your more control over the line, set the indents to the required position...

...there is a tab used in the above screen shot too, it just isn't selected so isn't showing. The numbers are tabbed in about 8mm, the lines start at 12mm and end at 8mm indents...

Thanks to everyone for your ID advice. I think I have a direction to follow to try some experiements and see if I can crank out my idea. The answer is out there.
