Automating the update of the Path Environment

Hi,

Is there an easy way to have a user add a path to their environment? A method that could be emailed to them so that they could run it and affect a permenant change.

Any ideas would be great. I am drawing a blank.

A possible solution : The user might run a batch file with the command SET PATH=%PATH%;userpath
