Over the decades, I've used Excel VBA to access other application's Object Libraries and send and receive data between Excel and that application.
Have you added the appropriate library or libraries to VBA Tools>References?
Then how can you know what objects to use? You need to know something about object models in general and the object model for any application. Maybe there's a web site that you can find. That's a good start.
I found, in addition to all that, that the Watch Window was/is a great help in discovering what property to use in a particular instance.

I don't know AutoCAD, but I did work with MicroStation (Bentley product) which does have a VBA, like Excel, Word, etc. From MicroStation's VBA I could connect to a data base (Oracle) and get whatever data I wanted. I am sure I could do the same connecting to Excel.
