Automating Append Queries

I’m having a little trouble. I have set up a macro that automates the execution of Append Queries. When the amount of rows to append is small (<100,000) there is no problem appending. Once I start getting into the area of hundreds of thousands of rows the query appears to run fine until the block indicator at the bottom gets to 100%. After that the program just kind of hangs.

If I hit ctrl+alt+delete and then escape out of the task manager the module will continue with the next query.

Has anyone run into a similar problem? Any suggestions as to why Access is hanging?

Thanks
TD

Td,
I have not seen that, and I've done appends > 1 mil. in Access. Have you tried setting the query properties Use Transaction to No?

Also, you're better off doing these in code (not macro) using a querydef and it's .execute method, that may make a difference.
