I have added two new extensions with 7310 handsets and everything is working correctly except when the users want to make a call they have to dial 9 for an outside line. the other twenty users here have lines set up 3 1/2 years age and we set them up so they automatically picked up a outside line but I can't remember how we did it. I used F**config + password and F983 + password.

Hardware
Norstar Modular ICS version 4

Any help is appriciated
Shawn

Go into programming Feature * * 266344, Password: 266344
Terminals&Sets - Press the upper right button that has lit up on your set.
Show set: ___ - Dial in the extension number you want to program. ie., 223
223:223 - Press the upper right button again
Line Access - Press the upper right button again
Line Assignment - Press the Lower right button
LinePool Access - lower right
Prime Line: If you want it to automatically pick up an available line, press the change button in your display until it says Pool A. (more than likely that's the pool you're using)

When done your screen will say
Prime line: PoolA - Press the upper LEFT button (3 times) until it says Terminals&Sets and do the next phone. MRoberts

Thanks for the reply MRoberts

I tried what you sent but when I type in set 4027 (we are using 4 digit extensions) I get 4027:4027 pressing upper right programming button gets me to capabilities not Line access.

I looked at my extension which was set up origianally 3 1/2 years ago and I dont have Line access either.

I appriciate your help

Shawn

Are you getting into programming as I described above??
Feature * * 266344, Password 266344?

Using the admin password 23646 won't get you into the programming sections you need to get into. MRoberts

Stupid me,

I was using the 23646 password, I didn't realize that there was any other password and it wasn't in any of the manuels.

It works like a charm, problem solved.

Thanks again
Shawn

I tried using the above option for a setup at a handful of handsets, and it didn't work. Other handsets at this location are set the same way, and automatically go out without the 9. Is there any other settings that need to be set in order for it to work?

No there are no other settings. If they can pick up their handset and dial 9 and get dial tone then my above instruction will work.

Which part didn't work. Does your programming come up like described above? MRoberts

Yes, you can get to the programming menu and the settings are the same as you described above. All of the handsets are set for "Pool A" for the Prime Line. Most of them work, but I have 2 phones that still require the "9" to get an outside line.

By the way, the phone models for these two phones are the M7208 and M7324, if that helps any.

Also, it seems as if the replies I have been sending have been coming back as "gragesw" and not "BillChambers" (except for 1). "BillChambers" has been the originator of the latest replies.

Thanks!

What happens when these two phones pick up their handsets? Do they hear IC dial tone or an error tone of some kind? MRoberts

From what I can tell, they hear the IC dial tone. It's like a softer version of the regular dial tone, correct? As soon as I press "9", it comes back with a stronger dial tone that I can dial local/long distance numbers from.

Bill

Exactly. If they are hearing intercom tone then their Prime Line isn't set to Pool A. Or whatever pool you are using. Try to go back in and check it as per the instructions at the top of this thread. Then if after checking it, if you are still having problems you might try just recycling power on the system itself.
Just pull power count to 10 power up again. You SHOULDN'T lose any programming. MRoberts

MRoberts and BillChambers, I would suggest two things, one what does the display show when they come off hook? and is it possible that there is centrex on the outside lines? if it is centrex just place a 9 in the dialout digit in servuces->routingservices->routes->

Yeah... I was kinda thinking like that but then why do ALL the other phones work? Just these two phones don't work. MRoberts
