I have a form that allows the users to store attachments in Access 2007. If they store a PDF file it displays a small Adobe icon and they can click the icon and it opens in Adobe. If they store a Word document, they get a small Word icon. They would like to have that data displayed automatically in the Access window rather than having to click the icon and wait for the other tool to open. I know this is a real stretch but has anybody done this? It works for JPG files.

What data are you looking to display? File name, created date, etc?

The actual file. JPG files automatically display but PDF and Word files just show a logo - you have to click on the logo. It must have to do with Access not being able to display PDF and Word files - you have to view those in the appropriate tools. I am looking for a way around that, maybe a plug in or active X control or ???

for the PDF there is an active X viewer that should be available if adobe is installed. I do not think there is a free version for Word, or one that handles both.
