Hi @ all,

we are migrating our windows nt clients to windows xp. Currently all users have a roaming profile stored at \\server\userprof$\%username%. we have an w2k3 - domain.

We do NOT want to migrate the profiles to windows xp. Is it possible to automatically generate a new profile on first logon in windows xp?

Thanks in advance.

Greets,
Speridal

Can you not delete the old profile at \\server\userprof$\%username% and copy in a new default one (when they are migrated) ?

No, this is not possible. I've found a solution. You can set an environment variable under HKLM\System\Currentcontrolset\Session Manager\Environment

This variable can be used in the profile path of the user e.g. \\servername\%Variable%$\JohnDoe

So if you set this variable on all old windows nt computers to "userprof" and on all windows xp computers to "user_prof", all users have two profiles.

\\servername\userprof$ --> WinNT - Profiles
\\servername\user_prof$ --> WinXP - Profiles

Greets,
Speridal
