Hi all,

I'm looking for a way that I can configure (or at least partically configure) Outlook 2003 POP3 e-mail accounts either using group policy or another office tool based on user account and/or mail field in AD?

I've had a look at the outlook admin template, but there doesn't seem to be anything there (infact there doesn't seem to even be anything to be anything to configure for exchange). Although I guess this is becuase settings are not stored in the registry.

Or if the above isn't possble, is there anything I can use to create a wizard file which can be run and will automatically set the user account based on what I've manually etered into the file?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi all,

Just thought I'd post back incase anybody else does ever need to do this. The answer is that you need to use the custom installation wizard (from the office resource kit). Although this is used for creating MST's, you can specify additional settings for ehange/pop3/imap/ldap settings as necessary. This can then be included in your MST but you also have the option of exporting them to a prf file which will contain all the default settings you want (and can use variables such as %username% etc). This file could then just be copied to %programfiles%\Microsoft Office or can be included in your deployment of Office if necessary. I'm not too sure if the prf file needs to be called anything in particular for it to work. The one that was deployed to my machines using this method was custom11.prf

Anyway, hope this helps somebody out in the future
