Hi all... I finally brought my MICS 6.1 system online over the weekend thanks in large part to the tips i got here... the only real issue that i haven't been able to figure out is that when you pick up the receiver, it automatically answers any ringing line... I have answer DNs assigned to most phones so employees can answer overflow calls from the receptionist. Most of the time, they do not need to answer the ringing line, so I would like it not to automatically pick up the line... is this possible?

Thanks!

They are all primed to Intercom. That was my first thought...

on the norstar the programmers assumed that you would want to answer the line ringing your phone. (they made a quite a few assumptions instead of allowing the user to customize it to themselves. end result is if the person dosen't need to answer the line when it rings then set the line (in terminals & sets->lines access->line assignment->to appear only instead of appear and ring.

If voting could really change things, it would be illegal.

I would, but the receptionist's DN is assigned as an answer DN to the sets and that is what is being answered automatically. Is there a way to change that?

no it is locked into the software that a ringing telephone will answer the longest ringing line when the handset is picked up.

have the people tap the line button that they want to grab that line instead of the ringing line.

you could probably use the aux ringer and make an external bell ring instead of the telephone.

If voting could really change things, it would be illegal.
