This may seem a stupid question but I am very new to SQL.

I have an update query that I want to run automatically each night at 11pm.

Can anyone tell me how?

Create a job to run your update then schedule it to run every night at 11pm

A good start might be to go to the Enterprise Server help and look up "scheduling periodic activities". That topic will lead you through a path of other topics on building and scheduling jobs.
