Automatic update doesn't work

I am using WinXP sp2 and Norton 2005. Under Options and Live Update I have ticked Enable Automatic Update. However, it doesn't automatically update. I had an older version of Norton (2003) and it used to tell me when it was finished updating when I was on the Internet. With this version I have to click Update. Any ideas on why it is not auto updating when I am on the Internet?
