Good morning!

I have a report I did for our fuel taxes that uses the insert-summary command to put the totals in (I didn't write the formulas). Somewhere within the first and second quarters, the grand total is off by 1998. If you add up the subtotals for each state for each quarter, the summaries are correct. If you export the two quarters to excel and add up the numbers, it equals the number the program gets. However, if you add the subtotals for both quarters together, it equals more than it shows in the grand total by 1998. It doesn't make any sense to me - the computer will only do what I tell it to do, but in this case, it seems to have a mind of its own! Can anyone think of anything I can look at?

The fields are Date Entered State, State, Miles, Fuel Gallons, Fuel Cost, Driver Name, Trip number, and Unit Number.

Please let me know if you can possibly think of anything to look at. I'm totally stumped at this point.

Thanks!

Di

It sounds like you have groups by State and by Quarter and then you have the grand totals.
1) are you sure that the grand total summary fields are totaling the same field/formula as the others. Click on it and it should tell you what field is involved.
2) If you copy the Grand Total and paste a copy of it next to the group totals, does it match them or does it show different values?

Check to see if you're doing a Distinct Count in the formulas. Subtotals of Distinct Counts do not always equal the total.
