Automatic retrieval of email through Outlook on a VPN

Hi all...Thanks in advance for any help you can offer...

I have several remote users who access our Exchange 2000 server through a VPN using Outlook 2000 or XP...While in the main office new email arrives automatically; however, when they are on the VPN new email will only arrive if they hit F9 or click on Send/Receive...My questions is this; why does the email not arrive automatically through the VPN?

It does ... at least through our network it does. Although I have noticed that with Outlook XP there is a small delay before it starts retrieving messages on it's own.

Are the clients using the same Outlook profile? As long as the Microsoft Exchange Server component is installed for the Outlook profile it should act the same although there may be a small delay. joegz
