Automatic line answer selection? 1

In an MICS how do you turn on and off antomatic line answer? darnold@americaii.com
 
Automatic line selection in the Norstar world is to have the line ring on the set and then when it does ring, it is automatically selected when the handset is lifted or the the handsfree key is pressed.

show
enter ext #
show
line access
show
line assignment
show
enter line
choose appear only
hit next for each line
and follow the above procedure
If you still want the phone to ring then you'll have to manually select the line or ICM befor you pick up the handset or handsfree button.

That's what we're getting at.... We want to have the lines appear and ring at any given extension and when we pick up the handset, it answers the ringing call automatically. Now, we can do it on our in-house switch but we don't know how it was done.
We have a customer who can't do it, everytime his phone rings with outside calls, he HAS to press a line button to answer the call. We want to automatically answer the ringing line.
Any ideas?

It sounds like his handset is plugged into the headset jack of the phone. Tell him to flip phone over to verify. Good Luck!!
 
No, when in the headset jack on our test equip...you just can't talk. This isn't it. darnold@americaii.com
 
When a call rings in on his KSU on let's say an analog line. He picks up handset and gets intercom dial tone, not the line that is assigned (appear and ring) on his set. I'm begining to think my last resort solution for everything **startup is called for (LOL). That's not an option for him though by the way. darnold@americaii.com
 
Yea, I,m stumped... if you've got it to appear&ring @ his phone I don't know any other setting that has to be set. I've got a ICS I'm finishing up on as we speak (type) and I can't get it duplicate your problem.... sorry..If you have any areas of programing you would like for me to try ?
 
I just changed a M7310 from handset to headset (jack on Phone)on a CICS. I could make calls OK, but had to push line Key for ringing line or push Handsfree key. I do not have a MICS to test with. Still researching documents.
 
This may be a stupid question be is the ICM button stuck? Does it happen if you change phones and what is the prime line at that ext? ICM, pool or line. also is it only this ext that has this problem?

There is no setting for that feature other than assigning the lines to RING ON THE SET.

I finally found something documented on this feature, it's in the Norstar Modular System (8x24) Coordinator Guide-DR2--page95 (

Incoming Calls
When more that one call begins to RING AT YOUR TELEPHONE at the same time, your telephone automatically selects one call when you lift the receiver or press the Handsfree/Mute button. Calls are answered in the following order:
*calls on your Prime Line (if you have one)
*calls on outside lines
*calls on inside lines
If there is more that one call on any one type of line the call which has been ringing the longest is answered first.

To override automatic line selection
1. Press the line button of the call you want to answer.
2 Pick up the receiver or Press Handsfree/Mute.

I too think maybe the Intercom button is stuck.

This problem is multiple set envolvement... and there is that old **startup option again.... LOL
