automatic client updates GP9

Has anyone used this successfully? I tried it but I am getting errors.

I installed the Cdn Payroll 2006 Year End and 2007 Tax Update today, and of course being a long weekend, there is no support.

I tried the automatic client update, but on the first workstation, it says All products updated successfully, but then I got a get/change error on coUserDefault and also on a 3rd party setup table.

I have to manually run the install on every workstation now but I am out of time and will have some angry users come Tues morning.

Not to mention the table updates took 8 hours, where the old servicepacks used to be done in 3 hrs.

I had the same issue...I got a response from Great Plains saying that people have run into the same scenario, but they do not have a fix and have not written it up as a bug.

I heard from our vendor as well and apparently we have a 3rd party product that required it's servicepack installation at the same time as GP SP2 but there is no documentation stating this. So now they are all in a panic that our data will be corrupted, and I can't do that update until the weekend....niiiice!

It was also suggested that we need SP4 for SQL2000.

Isn't SP4 for SQL2000 a pre-requisite for GP90 already?

No, GP900 required SP3a - we made sure of it. But SP4 went in smoothly! whew!
