Automatic Caller Id 1

I just installed a Norstar Compact ICS for the first time. My background is on the Meridian side. My question is I can't seem to get caller id, to come up before ansering the call. I know it works between the 1st and 2nd ring cycle when I answer it. When I press feature 811 I receive it before answering, but that doesn't help. I have caller ID set up for name. I changed it to number and line, no change. The software is 4.2 and the phones are 7310. Any help would be appreciated. The end user want't to see it before touching anything on the phone.
 
first obvious question is do you have the CID trunk cards in the system?

second suggestion is to take your butt set and verify that Caller ID is being delivered to you from the CO. You will hear it as a short burst of data between the 1st and 2nd rings while you monitor the line.

The caller ID info (if received) should show up on the display during the call, like you said the customer has to wait till the second ring to answer though. JerryReeve

Caller ID set

Caller ID set allows you to specify if a telephone displays the Call Display
information when a call is ringing on an external line. (After the call is
answered, Call Display information is always shown at the telephone that
answered the call). The Caller ID set for target lines is the same set that has
appearance on that target line. Press CHANGE to select the setting: N (No)
or Y (Yes).
Sets which are part of a CCR group (used with Auto Attendant features)
receive Call Information automatically for all CCR calls. When a call is
routed to the CCR group by the CCR, information about the call appears at
all the sets in the group. This capability is part of the CCR group

Thank You for the replys. The caller Id works fine when answering or using feature 811. I need it to work automatically, with out having to press any buttons. Is this possile. Thank you.
 
Tip - In order for a telephone to display the Call
Display information for calls on an external line, it must
also be programmed to appear and ring or ring for
that line.
For systems that subscribe to Call Display services,
Caller ID can be viewed on any telephone by entering
the Call Information feature code
Feature 811. See the Telephone Feature Card
or Compact ICS 4.0 System Coordinator Guide for
more information.
Call information does not automatically appear when
the telephone has an Answer DN, or belongs to a Ring
group activated by Ringing Service. Call information is
still available for these calls by pressing
Feature 811.
