I have a requirement to set up one or two analogue extensions / trunks to automatically answer a call.

I a nutshell we are installing a device which requires a ddi pointed to the specific extension. Following the initial ring the IPO should ideally pick up the call opening the communication between an outside party and the internal extension / trunk. Once this connection is made the outside party should be able to enter digits to command the connected device.

The reason I have put trunks / extensions is I don't mind which I just need it to work.

I hope this makes sense and look forward to your replies.

I had hoped that I would not have to include the product name because I feared it may confuse things. However details of the device are at:

This device will connect to another Call Centre application which does not have the facility to route a ddi straight to an analogue port and auto-answer. Therefore I need to put some form of switch in to cater for this and would prefer not to use a Definity purely for this feature due to the cost.

I can test these devices on our system if someone has an 'idea'.

Thanks again.

Try creating an incoming route (or route caller via a transfer token from an AA Menu) directing the caller to a shortcode, for example:

SC: *99
TN:<blank>
LG: <create a line group with your single CO Port>
F: Dial

When callers are directed to the *99 shortcode it should take your trunk port off-hook but not dial anything.

Thanks for the reply. This looks like it could work....

Would another way (if I can't plug into a trunk) be to set the port to Paging Port, which I think I've noticed in one of the menus somewhere ??

You could try that if you're into pain... after you're done convincing the analog station to be a paging port I am not sure if it will pass DTMF though...

Peter

on second thought, yes it will pass DTMF (used for multizone paging units, for example). Just put a "." for the telephone number instead of leaving it blank.

I would still use a trunk as my first choice though, if available.

Peter

Excellent thank you Peter !

You can set a digital phone to auto answer , it is a feature you will find in the digi telephony tab, but surely you cant make a alog phone auto answer??? unless it is a modem of some sort.
