Automated call transfer using F71 on Norstar ?

Hi, I have a few customers having same request.

When far from their norstar set, they want a caller to be transfered to their cell phone, while freeing the line used by the call.

I know the "call transfer", when enabled by the CO, will permit to do it with F71 while on a call, then the (cell) phone number to redirect, F71 again, and hang up after a few seconds.
That will free the original line, and the caller will ring on the cell phone.

But the request is to take that a step further, and have the transfer done by the MICS or the CallPilot.

Again, I don't want to keep 2 lines busy until the call is completed.

Thanks for any help !

Are you talking always the same cell numbers and how many?
Routes might help here.

Hi,

For a specified set, there is only one cell number that calls needs to be redirected to.
In a perfect world, that would be done after x rings, like a forward to a voice mail or to another set.

Thanks,

Never tried but maybe this will work...

Dest Code 81 use Route 001
Route 001 Call External number #xxx-xxx-xxxx#

or another person

Dest Code 82 use Route 002
Route 002 Call External number #xxx-yyy-yyyy#

Answer call
Transfer
81

In re-reading I am not so sure you are specific enough with the request but why not just program a button on the set to do LinkXXX-XXX-XXXXLink ?

You then are dealing with the current call/line only.....no need for the Callpilot or MICS to be involved for what reason?

The MICS performs an unsupervised conference to forward a call externally. It will always use two lines. Same with CallPilot. The only way to externally forward a call using just one line is to use LINK and the telco's "user transfer" feature.

I really need something "unattended".

Let me rephrase that. (Sorry, english isn't my primary language!)

Customer is always walking in the building and need calls sent to his norstar set (from the callpilot) to be forwarded to his cell phone if he is not at his desk.
If I have 3 employes doing this, and each uses 2 lines for the transfer, then that would quickly fill the phone lines, that's why I need the system to be able to use the telco *71 function so once the call is transfered, no lines are occupied anymore in the system.

CurlyCord: You are right; we could program a transfer button, but I need this unsupervised... If I use the route, wouldn't this use a 2nd line ?

Ok, thanks for sharing your knowledge.

I have a complicated setup I may try then.
If I have a computer with a modem linked to an ATA, the set could be forwarded to the ATA and ring the ATA.
A software could then answer the line, do a predetermined dialing sequence, (Flash 72 5145551212 Pause, Flash 72) and hang up.

Then if a second user needs the same feature, it's the price of an additional ATA.

Of course if the computer could figure out the original set NA the call was sent to, a single ATA could do the job.

I'll work on this.

Thanks !

You can semi-automate it using the voice mail. It requires caller help rather than someone in the office.

Set up outbound transfer in the voice mail box. "Hi you've reach Joe press 7 to be transferred to my cell phone otherwise leave a message at the tone."

Dialing string in the outbound transfer would be #-xxx-xxx-xxxx. # would flash the line and release it once transferred. Caller would not have to know the number.

@allworxguy
Seriously, that feature would take the caller's line to do the transfer ?
Correct me if I am wrong, but usually we have to specify a line group, meaning that would take a 2nd line to dial, then link both together until line supervision is triggered, than both lines will be closed.

No you can do a link transfer in the voice mail.

In order to perform a Link transfer for a CCR external transfer you must add the
special character # before the telephone number. For example, the telephone
number would look like: # 5551111 #
where:
# instructs Norstar Voice Mail to use the incoming line to perform the transfer7
5551111 is the telephone number dialed
When you are transfering to an external number, make sure your Norstar Voice
Mail system has Disconnect Supervision enabled.

This is taken from an old Norstar 4.0 manual that I found so I would go with ALLWORXGUY's suggestion & use the Voicemail to do the link transfer. Set up a CCR Tree & give the incoming caller a single digit option to do an external transfer to your users cell phone.

Also I tried briefly my route option above but I got "expensive route" and I am on a SIP line....still might work if tweaked.

What I am looking for doesn't seem to be 100% doable, so I have to consider alternatives.

pccal detailed suggestion seems the logical way to do this.

I will try and update the post.

Thanks to all !
