Just curious if it is possible to setup a DID that would allow anyone to call our office directly and get the extension that they want to talk to.

Right now, I have a backdoor for VoiceMail, but not to access an extension directly bypassing reception.

Any help or guidance on how to do this would be great.

Thanks

Yes, you can get the extension that you want if you use a DISA

What your looking for is called THRU-DIAL

That's great. Thanks for your quick and prompt response everyone. One more question: We have an option c61 Release 23.

I know DISA is not supported, but is thru dial supported and if so, could you point in a direction on how to enable or set it up please?

If you have a mail system that is capable of voice menus or thru dials then you are set. Just send a did to a thrudial service that accepts name or number dialing (usually). The actual setup of the thrudial is done in the mail enviroment. Your PBX only gives PSTN calls access to your service.

Thanks for the info, but it still does not point me in a direction to set it up.

Is there a howto or feature guide in the Software Features Guide or Input/output Guide I could tap that would tell me how to do this?

Thanks

What kind of voice mail do you have?

You can build a DID as a queue NCFW'd to mail. In mail you will need to create a Thru-Dial and associate the DID with the Thru-Dial #.

I can step you through this if you have Mer Mail.
