All,

I'm not really sure where to post this, but this is what I need to do.

Daily, I have to zip a bunch of files on the server that amount to about 2.5GB and then move them to my desktop. This winds up taking too much of my time, so I'd like to automate the process. The files are a set of MSSQL database backups from the previous day, so I need to somehow only get the files from the previous day. The server is more or less idle at 1:00 in the morning, so I plan to do it then.

Automating this is outside of my expertise. I don't know whether to use task scheduler, or some other method to do this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

All you would need is to create a batch file and then schedule it from the sched task applet. If you are not too sure about batch files, all you need to do is to simulate what you are doing now from a command line and paste the commands into a textfile
From there create a sched task to run at your preferred interval
