Hello

Does anyone know of a tool to automate the creation of accounts with mailboxes and map a home folder

What were looking for in a way of creating loads of accounts at the end of the night without to much trouble via a excel spreadsheet, or a tool to allow 1st line support to create accounts without giving them admin rights to the network

It's a Windows 2000 AD network with Exchange 2000

Thanx Guys

Windows NT/2000 ADSI Scripting for System Administration by Thomas Eck

I have used this book to help create scripts for what you are doing. With the examples he has in the book, you can script a web page to publish to your frontline people to create the accounts and the accounts will be created uniformly based on the rules that you specify in the scripts.

Using the same basic principles, you can also modify the scripts to take input from the Excel spreadsheets to create your accounts on the fly. The examples in the book cover Active Directory User creation, options and Exchange Mailbox maintenance/creation.

Hope this helps.

The above sounds like the way to go if your have time to get into it, but i found that if all you want is a basic user, with a profile path, home directory and mailbox, then Addusers.exe does the job well.
We create 10000 users using it, it can import from a basic csv file
