Automate Datamarting in the Desktop?

I am using MicroStrategy 7.1.3 and am wondering if it is possible using the SDK to add a button to the toolbar in the desktop (or some equivalent) which would automatically drill to a certain point and write the results to a database table.

My clients swear they have seen this demonstrated somewhere, but I can't find examples of this type of customisation anywhere.

Is it possible? Are there any examples of this anywhere?

Thanks for your help

don't think you can change anything in the desktop interface. What they might mean is to save the report and make it a scheduled datamart report.

Thanks, I think you're right. The MSTR sales guys got mixed up I think. I met him and he seemed a bit out of touch... saying all desktop components are published COM objects and can therefore be fully modified.

I think that means you can access the desktop functions from external programs, not actually change the Desktop itself.
