Hi Everyone,

Not sure if this has been asked before but does anyone have a script/procedure that I could use to run a command on a server, output the command result to a text file and email that text file to an smtp address? The command that I need to execute on the Netbackup Master server is:

E:\veritas\netbackup\bin\admincmd\bpimagelist -A -media -hoursago 24

Thanks everyone

You will need to first install an smtp client on you server like blat.

The from the At scheduler run your command piping it to a text file like such;
E:\veritas\netbackup\bin\admincmd\bpimagelist -A -media -hoursago 24 > C:\logs\filename

Then add another At schedule to email the file created above.

Is there a way to automate a report via the bp commands that are similar to the Job Details By Policy in Advanced Reporter, that includes the Policy, Schedule, Start time, Duration, Total Jobs, Failed, Files and Kbytes backed up. Or I guess a better question is there a way to get the report from Advanced Reporter to be sent in a text file or csv format instead of html.

do you mean with bpdbjobs?

Just because the VERITAS documentation states a certain thing does not make it a fact and thats the truth

I'm not sure. I know if I use bpimagelist, I can get the KB backed up, jobs from last 24 hrs, sched type, files and expiration date. Would bpdpjobs give me more of what I am looking for? For example, I would like to get the duration, number of total jobs, number of failed jobs, all the policies backed up and number of files backed up. Somewhat similar to what Jobs Details By Policy gives you in Advanced Reporter. I have it set up now to email me from Advanced Reporter the Job Details by Policy for the previous night's backups, which I like the details and the html format. The only problem is that management wants a similar report but not in html format. They want it in text or preferably csv format. I can copy and paste it in csv format each morning for them but wondered if there is a way to automate this.

yeah...I'm not sure how to do it with windows. I have UNIX master servers and I use BPDBJOBS_COLDEFS in the bp.conf file to formulate bpdbjobs
