We are trying to recover a SaveSet directly from the tapes through the following command

scanner -S 4045853953 /dev/rmt/c4t5d0BESTnb | uasm -rv

The SaveSet spans across multiple tapes and the problem is that although we have an autochanger setup (which works fine during backup) we have to manually load each tape into the drive with this particular scanner command. Could anybody advice if we are missing something or if there is a way to automate it.

Thanks & Regards,

scanner is a device oriented command. To the best of my knowledge, it will not care about continued save sets.

To overcome the problem, do not use scanner but "recover -S ssid" and leave the rest to NetWorker.

Thanks for the reply

Unfortunately, we need to use the scanner command as we are using it to bring in specific savesets from backup tapes generated from networker servers at other sites into our test networker server.

You can still run "scanner -m" and rung "recover -S ssid" later. However, this need to read the tape(s) twice.
