Hi can anyone help. Previously we were able to set up an outlook client account and use the Rules Wizard to forward all emails containing the client account name to an SMPT hotmail account and a copy to a user on our system. Although the user is still receiving his copies from this account, the hotmail account has received nothing for some time. We can send email directly from the client account to the hotmail account almost instaneously.

Any suggestions as to what might be wrong please?

We suspect the exchange server as we have also tried to run various forwarding rules on other client accounts to SMPT email addresses and again these do not work, although you can email direct to the SMPT account.

on your exchange servers IMC, make sure that the "Disable Automatic Replies to the Internet" check box is cleared.

I would recommend that instead of using a client-side rule you setup the alternate recipient on the Exchange server to forward the mail.

You can do this in Exchange 5.5 by going into the user's account on the Exchange server, selecting delivery options and then setup the Alternate Recipient. This way, the forwarding is not reliant on the Outlook client being logged in to forward the mail.

Hope this helps, Vos [peace]
