Autoformat Won't Preserve Line Numbering for different users (MS WORD) 1

I'm having trouble in maintaining the autocorrect functionality in MS Word when another user opens up a saved document and wishes to continue with the line numbering from another part of the document. If I break the line numbering, have a block of text after the last instance of the line numbering, and wish to start the numbering somewhere else in the document, the autoformat option allows me to continue with the previous numbering. However, if another user retrieves this file in a shared directory, they don't have the option of using the Autocorrect option to continue the line numbering from another part of the document. Is there any way that this can be maintained somehow? I'm using Word 2002.

Thanks for any help

Yes it can be maintained. Use Styles.

Create a Style (I call mine SkipLineNum) that suppresses line numbering. When ever I want to, well, skip line numbering, I switch to that Style. If your document is based on a template with a skipping style, and it is used, the style will apply no matter who uses it.
