As I'm sure all you Excel experts out there know, Excel provides an autofill function based upon any column list you are filling. This list is also available through a cell's right-click menu (...Pick From List...). This functionality is really helpful when trying to fill a larger column with pre-typed choices and lots of repetition.

Is there anyway to access/edit this list? I'm thinking of pre-populating the list with a standard set of choices, that immediately become available to anyone entering data.

One manual shortcut I've found is to paste the standard set of choices at the top of a column, and these then become available for Autofill straight away.

However, I was wondering if this functionality is accessible through code, to avoid the crude shortcut, and to make for a much neater application...???

You could have a look at data validation

select a cell and go
Data>Validation
Select list
Enter a comma seperated list of entries or reference a named range

The user will then only be able to enter something that is on the list - they can do so either by typing in the cell or selecting from a dropdown list

Hi Mark,

You could put a standard list in by selecting tools - options - custom list.

Hope this helps!
