Ok, I have installed this stupid program over and over again. With my Norton on and with my Norton off.

My problem is it won't run. I click on the icon and I get an error saying weird things such as:

"the procedure entry point ?AFile@@QAIFPAXI@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library acutil15.dll"

Or

"This application has failed to start because acdb15.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."

Now I have re-installed the app, I even downloaded the acdb15.dll and when I tried to rerun it, it told me that another dll was missing.

Any ideas?

Hi civilman77,

If you could post what OS and AutoCAD version you're working with, that would help us help you.

There was some trouble at one time with the WISE Installation wizard, you just had to download and install the latest and greatest but I'm not real sure that's your trouble. It almost sounds as though your install disk is bad... Post back with more specifics and we might be able to get you going.

I'm running Windows XP Profession with all the service packs installed.

Autodesk Autocad 2000 and trying to install Land Desktop 3.

I would be pretty disappointed if I have a bad install disk seeing as how these things are not cheap. I'm at my wits end.

Thanks in advance

Hi civilman77,

I hate to be the bearer of bad news - but here it is, AutoCAD 2000 isn't supported on Windows2000, and not at all on XP. By supported, this just means Autodesk hasn't tested it, has no plans to, and won't entertain any support questions (fee or free). Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. However, Land Desktop 3 is supported.

Typically any troubles I have seen like yours are due to one of two things - OS incompatability, and/or trying to keep old versions of AutoCAD with newer versions. My understanding is AutoCAD 2000, doesn't really tolerate any other versions of AutoCAD either older or newer.

So, if you have AutoCAD 2000 already installed, uninstall it, and make sure you remove all entries from the registry referencing AutoCAD or Autodesk anything, and then do the Land Desktop installation. Land Desktop (if it's like Architectural Desktop), will install the correct version of AutoCAD, in this case probably 2002, (Architectural and Land Desktop both sit on top of AutoCAD.) If you still have trouble installing - you probably left something behind in the registry - or it may be time to rebuild the system - starting with Windows on up.

HTH
