Autocorrect in Outlook 03

We've an Exchange Server 2003.
All users run Outlook 2003 on XP pro boxes BUT we all use Office 2000.
Autocorrect is not working correctly. Although the version installed is not SP3, I did install it on a testing unit so I could apply the MS hotfix that "fixes" the problem. Still not working. Any registry hacks to fix this or allow Outlook 03 to use Word 2k as email editor?
