On the server we have Exchange Server 2007. On the desktop we have Outlook 2007 & Office 2000. The problem is that Outlook 2007 and Word 2000 do not play well together. Certain functions in Outlook 2007 are greyed out and unavailable. These include some of the autocorrect functions.

My question is: Is there any known fix for this problem, so that I can get the autocorrect functions back in Outlook 2007?

Have a look here. Look towards the end of the document where it says you should rename your default template (normal.dot) - maybe it could be as simple as creating a new default template because Outlook 2007 may have overwritten it or it may need to be created in its presence.

It also discusses where those settings are located in the registry. if you know what you're doing you could investigate there as well - I'll give the standard disclaimer that you can really hose up your computer if you mess up the registry by accident.

Thanks DonB - That is a good source of information. I will play around with it and report back here. I appreciate the direction.
