AutoComplete in Outlook 2003

When you type one letter in the to: field of an Outlook 2003 email usually the autocomplete kicks in and you get a whole list of previous emails. Well, I recently reinstalled the OS and office 2003 on my companie's CEO's computer. You actually have to type in three characters in order for the autocomplete to kick in. Can anyone give me some insight on why this would do this.
